Useless Hacks: How to keep an item of clothing from going to landfill

Join Taz and Geraldine from the Useless project for a unique workshop about sustainable fashion. They will inspire participants to give their current wardrobe a new lease of life with simple mending, rejigging and upcycling techniques.  They will also discuss how to save clothing from going to landfill and how to fall back in love with the clothes that you already have.

Gerard Griffin – Creative Furniture Upcycling

Gerard Griffin is the programme manager for Rediscover Furniture in the Rediscovery Centre. Gerard and has over 40 years’ experience in the furniture restoration trade. During this workshop, Gerard will demonstrate how to prepare your furniture for upycling, along with painting techniques, varnishing, oiling and French polishing.

2pm – 2.55pm

Lynn Haughton, Upcycle Movement – Textile Dreamcatcher

Learn how to make your own denim dream catcher with Lynn Haughton from The Upcycle Movement. Lynn will guide you through the steps to create this stunning piece from your old jeans! You will even be shown how to make your own feathers to add! Hang it with pride in your window or on your wall. It makes such a beautiful, sustainable piece for your home or to gift a friend.
